Overview
The Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing construction activities on-site, ensuring the project progresses smoothly, safely, and on schedule. The Site Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager, tradespeople, and subcontractors to coordinate operations, manage resources, and resolve any on-site issues. This role is critical for maintaining the quality, safety, and efficiency of the construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Management: Supervise all on-site construction activities, including laborers, tradespeople, and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are completed according to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordination: Liaise with the Project Manager and other key personnel to ensure alignment on schedules, materials, and labor requirements. Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Quality Control: Conduct daily inspections of the construction site, monitoring the quality of work and materials. Ensure that all work meets the project’s quality standards and compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
- Scheduling: Develop and manage daily, weekly, and long-term work schedules for the construction crew. Adjust schedules and resources as needed to keep the project on track.
- Safety Management: Enforce safety policies and procedures on the construction site. Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure all workers follow OSHA standards and wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction. Quickly find solutions to delays, material shortages, or unexpected challenges on-site.
- Budget & Resource Management: Ensure the efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment to avoid unnecessary delays or cost overruns. Track material usage and ensure accurate inventory management.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of all on-site activities, including worker attendance, material deliveries, equipment usage, and incidents. Provide daily or weekly reports to the Project Manager.
- Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Act as the on-site representative for the project, communicating with clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders to ensure their needs are met and to provide updates as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in construction or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven track record of managing construction sites and leading teams effectively.
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED required. A degree or certification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with construction safety regulations and risk management.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
